Hackensack Riverkeeper wants to partner with your business or employer

to think globally and act locally!

By Mary Arnold

Hackensack Riverkeeper hopes that you will consider increasing your personal support for our mission by helping us make contact with others at your workplace who also may become supporters. There are several ways in which you can help:

Assemble a group of river stewards for a community service day or an Adopt-a-stream team: Help us by posting emails or flyers at your workplace that advertise river restoration opportunities for groups of volunteers. Hackensack Riverkeeper holds regular river clean-ups and will restore a reach of Coles Brook in Hackensack's Staib Park this April (see story, Page 1). The Hackensack River needs many more groups helping to protect and restore its lands and waters. An added bonus for your business is that group river stewardship can help you build a stronger team for your workplace. Major corporations use days of community service as team-building events.

Help Hackensack Riverkeeper make contact with your company's foundation or other corporate philanthropy contact. Advocate funding for our mission: Corporations give to causes in which their employees are involved. Hackensack Riverkeeper needs your help to find the philanthropic funding contact in your corporation and give them Hackensack Riverkeeper's funding proposal. We have many corporations and businesses in our watershed, but without an inside contact who advocates for our mission, we are unlikely to receive support.

If your workplace participates in a program that matches your donation to a nonprofit, please fill out that paperwork when you make donations to us: As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Hackensack Riverkeeper, Inc. qualifies for your company's donation program. By automatically increasing the size of your gift, you will increase the boost you give to Hackensack Riverkeeper work.

Organize an Eco-Cruise for your workplace: Hackensack Riverkeeper still has time slots left in 2002 for an Eco-Cruise that you can organize for your workplace. Not only will you enjoy the time on the river, but also you will be offering others the opportunity to learn about and support preservation of natural resources in their watershed.
