Support Team Hackensack Riverkeeper during the 19th ANNUAL WORLD SERIES OF BIRDING! Last year we listed 106 species - This year we're going after even more and YOU can help! What it is: The World Series of Birding (WSB) is a daylong "bird-athon" that takes place exclusively in New Jersey on the second Saturday in May. Begun in 1983 by the New Jersey Audubon Society, WSB teams fan out across the state to list all the bird species they can find in a single, 24-hour period. When it is: Saturday May 11, 2002, rain or shine. Where it is: Team Hackensack Riverkeeper will bird the New Jersey portion of the Hackensack River watershed from Lake Tappan south to Newark Bay, using Rich Kane's Hackensack River Migratory Bird Report as a field guide. We expect to list more than 100 species (from warblers to ducks to herons and more!). Who we are: Team Hackensack Riverkeeper is: Hackensack Riverkeeper Program Director Hugh Carola; longtime watershed naturalist Kerul Kassel; and Urner Ornithological Club member Tim Vogel. This year, our team is sponsored by ShopRite Supermarkets and will be competing with WSB teams across New Jersey. How you can help: You can support the Team (and the ongoing work of Hackensack Riverkeeper) by making a "per bird" pledge. Here's how it works – Just fill out the pledge coupon below and send it back to Hackensack Riverkeeper anytime before May 11, 2002. After the WSB, we'll send you a report of the birds we listed and a postage-paid return envelope for your donation. As always, thank you for your commitment, your support and for caring about your River.
