ACTION ALERT: SAVE THE RIVER VALE WOODS!

Forty-four acres of critical watershed buffer lands are in
imminent danger of development and your help is
desperately needed.

Background

In 1994 when the former Hackensack Water Company became United Water Resources, the company transferred all of its land holdings to the newly-created United Properties Group (UPG). Those holdings include forty-four acres of remnant (i.e. unprotected and developable) forested buffer land along the Cherry Brook near Poplar Road in River Vale, NJ. Since the water company’s merger with the French water purveyor SUEZ, it has moved quickly to divest itself of all developable holdings. Currently, before the River Vale Planning Board, there is a proposal by UPG that would protect only eighteen acres at a cost of over $8 million! United Water customers, taxpayers, citizens of the Hackensack River watershed and all concerned people have a right to be heard!

Here’s what you can do to help:

SEND A LETTER TO GOVERNOR MCGREEVEY DEMANDING THAT NEW JERSEY STEP IN TO PROTECT THE RIVER VALE WOODS. ESPECIALLY IN LIGHT OF THE DROUGHT, IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT OUR WATERSHED BUFFER LANDS BE PROTECTED.
