New Logo Complies With Waterkeeper Alliance Guidelines

Hackensack Riverkeeper recently revised its logo to comply with new guidelines issued by Waterkeeper Alliance. The Waterkeeper Alliance is the international organization that licenses the “waterkeeper” designation and members must adhere to strict guidelines in terms of their operations as well as how they use the “waterkeeper” name.

“The Alliance mandates that all its member organizations use the same font for the ‘waterkeeper’ part of their logo,” explained Bill Sheehan, executive director, Hackensack Riverkeeper. “They are very protective of the name because there are people who come along and just start calling themselves ‘waterkeepers.’ Those of us that are bonafide waterkeepers adhere to a high standard of conduct in terms of the protection of our natural resources.”

Logo changes occurred not only on letterhead and business cards, but on signage at the Hackensack Riverkeeper headquarters in Hackensack and at the Paddling Center in Secaucus. “The biggest challenge was to change the logo on some 30 boats, two cars and our Clean Up trailer,” Sheehan said. “Luckily, the Waterkeeper Alliance reimbursed us for a major part of the cost of repainting all of the logos.”
