Joint Benefit for Conservation

 

 

Supporters of Hackensack Riverkeeper and New Jersey Ducks Unlimited participated in the first-ever joint event on September 5. The evening, which honored three conservation heroes with special awards, included Eco-Cruises on the Hackensack River (above) and cocktails and dinner at Tracey's Nine Mile House in Little Ferry. Rep. Steve Rothman (D-NJ9th) gave the keynote address, recounting his staunch commitment to Meadowlands conservation issues.

Day, Director of the New Jersey Field Office of the US Fish and Wildlife Service; Martin McHugh, Director of the NJ Department of Fish and Wildlife; and Donald T. DiFrancesco, former Senate President and former Acting NJ Governor (not shown).

 

 


 

Springsteen Ticket Auction Winner Sits Front Row, Center

 

Captain Bill Sheehan presented Helen Strakele of Linden, NJ with two front-row, center tickets to see Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band on their final performance at Giants Stadium. Bruce and Jon Landau Management donated the tickets to support Hackensack Riverkeeper and its work in preserving the Meadowlands. The tickets were auctioned on Q104.3, New York's Only Classic Rock Station, raising $2,140 for Hackensack Riverkeeper.
