Approves Green Acres Grant For Hackensack Riverkeeper

Preserving open space and improving and expanding local parks are critical components of New Jersey's efforts to combat sprawl. It has also been the cornerstone of Hackensack Riverkleeper's mission to protect, preserve and restore the Hackensack River watershed. These ideals recently took a step forward together when Governor Jon S. Corzine informed HRI that the Department of Environmental Protection and the Garden State Preservation Trust had approved a Green Acres grant to help Hackensack Riverkeeper preserve open space.

According to DEP Commissioner Lisa P. Jackson, "This project represents a great step toward achieving our goal of protecting New Jersey's most important recreation and conservation lands and our quality of life." We at Hackensack Riverkeeper could not agree more.
