Nature Program Cooperative Programs Hackensack Riverkeeper is a charter member of the Nature Program Cooperative, a network of environmental organizations. NPC member organizations provide opportunities to experience and enjoy our region’s natural side. Members of one are welcome at all. (Non-members also welcome.) Here is a list of upcoming programs: Summer Discovery Walk Hosted by Demarest and Tenafly Nature Centers August 20, 2006, 5:30 - 8:00 pm Enjoy a leisurely walk through the trails of the Demarest Nature Center in search of seasonal treasures. Join Tenafly Nature Center’s Education Director Debora Davidson as she explores the Demarest Nature Center and its over 55 acres of preserved habitat. Participants must dress appropriately for the conditions and wear proper footwear. FREE for NPC members; $5 Non-members. Diurnal Raptors of New Jersey: Hosted by Palisades Interstate Park Commission October 22, 2006, 2:00 - 3:30 pm A photographic tour of the diurnal raptors that live in or migrate through New Jersey. We will cover some of the basics for identifying those puzzling specks that pass over the hawkwatches. Program will be held at PIP Headquarters, Exit 2 off the Palisades Interstate Parkway. Owls of New Jersey Hosted by Tenafly Nature Center and Weis Ecology Center December 8, 2006, 7:00 - 8:30 pm Location: Tenafly Nature Center. Join naturalists from the TNC and the Weis Ecology Center for a hoot of a good time. After an introduction inside, participants will meet some LIVE species of NJ's nocturnal hunters. We will then journey out to listen for the stylish vocalizations of our local inhabitants. Program is intended for Adults and families with children 13 years or older.
