Bergen County Holds Household Hazardous Waste Collections

Improper disposal of household chemicals such as pesticides, paints and motor oil in the garbage is dangerous and environmentally unsafe. The Bergen County Utilities Authority (BCUA) is sponsoring Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Programs for residents of Bergen County.

Collection events will be held at three sites throughout the county:

·       Paramus: Bergen Community College, 400 Paramus Rd., on Sunday, Oct. 15, 2006.

·       Moonachie: BCUA, Foot of Empire Blvd., on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006.

·       Mahwah: Bergen County Law and Public Safety Institute, 281 Campgaw Rd. on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2006.

Collection events begin at 9 am and close promptly at 3 pm. All HHW collection events are free to Bergen County residents. Proof of residency is required at time of collection. The Bergen County HHW Collection Program is developed and run by the BCUA’s Solid Waste Division.
